Marine Science program
Costa Rica has an unique habitat. It offers a great opportunity to study and observe the sea life in it’s wilderness. Our oceans need our help. Many inhabitants are endangered. We need to act now! Join our program and learn how to make a difference in the world.
Here at Rich Coast Diving we have developed a special program for students interested in learning about the ocean and its habitants. Learn about the Sea Turtles, Manta Rays and Sharks with the Project AWARE Distinctive Specialties. In order to participate you need to be certified as an Open Water diver. Each Aware Specialty consist of two parts.First, we work on the theory of the program in our classroom. Next, we’ll take you to the research part in the ocean. The learning discusses their habits and reproduction. We also cover the the bigger issues: EXTINCTION. Most of these beautiful creatures face extinction, mostly due to poachers. At Rich Coast Diving you will become part of the education and research program. Our efforts also result in teaching local kids to enhance environmentally sound approaches. We firsthand give them an insight in how to interact with the marine life on a recreational level.
During the course you will do research while diving, monitoring the marine life in corporation with the manta society in Ecuador. Through field trips, workshops and snorkel trips we hope to deliver a message and change the world in a positive way.
After the program you will be leaving with 3 PADI Specialty certifications in Marine Science; turtle, manta and shark. For the Advanced divers we also offer the distinctive Bull Shark Specialty! This is written by our Course Director Brenda and approved by PADI. Of course if you are not advanced yet there is an option to integrate it into the Marine Science program.
Enhance your knowledge while living the real underwater adventure!
