This specialty is required training for most SSI Professional programs, as well as some Extended Range programs, and is an essential way to expand your dive knowledge. Available online, you can earn your SSI Science of Diving specialty certification from home and get ready to begin your dive professional career.

Upon completion, you will be halfway to earning the coveted SSI Divemaster rating and earn the SSI Science of Diving specialty certification.

All specialty courses are developed by a team of passionate educators, scientists, filmmakers, divers and explorers that are passionate about experiencing and preserving our marine environments.

The SSI Ecology specialty programs are engaging, fun and provide you with the knowledge and skills needed to identify various species of marine organisms and explains their role in the ocean's ecosystems.

You can combine an ecology course with your day of diving and put your knowledge to practice.

For example take the "Shark Ecology" course when you go on our local dives or Bullshark Dives at Bats Islands. Or take the "Manta & Ray Ecology" course if you are joining us on a trip to Catalinas Islands. The possibilities are endless for those who are passionate about both diving and marine conservation!
